The COVID19 DIARIES exhibition exalts the realm that exists between art and the massively disruptive experience of the Covid-19 pandemic. It is an affirmation of art and the power of imagination to guide us through confusing, scary, and absurd times. Ultimately this exhibition presents a raw, of-the-moment slice of our disrupted cultural pie.
On 23 March 2020, Lovaas Projects and the artist Verena Issel, began spreading an “art virus.” The first “infected” artist sent us a work created in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and in turn infected another artist and so on and so on….creating a chain. Thus the exhibition morphs over time as artists from all over the world “contaminate” us with their essential gift of artistic creation.
The COVID19 DIARIES will culminate with a benefit opening and exhibition when bans are lifted and we crawl out of our self-isolation. All proceeds from the sale of art will go to the artists and the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
